US H1B Visa News: Surge in IT Companies US Lobbying Spends | Live Punjab

US H1B Visa News: Surge in IT Companies US Lobbying Spends | Live Punjab

It seems that the spoof of the US visa has compelled the Indian IT companies to increase their lobbying spends in the US. This surge has been in leaps and bounds as the important Indian IT companies have been somehow scared of the immigration bill, says expert.
TCS Spends
TCS has spent a whopping $30,000 on lobbying. So, the spoof of the US immigration bill has influenced this Indian IT company to spend in lobbying as early as possible. It has invested in lobbying after 2005. So, after a long period, TCS initiated its lobbying expenditure.
Wipro Spends:
This year, Wipro has invested $240,000 till July. This is quite high in comparison to last year’s spending of $210,000. These facts have been authenticated by a website that assesses the policies of companies and their impact on the citizens.
Cognizant/ Nasscom Spends
Cognizant’s lobbying investments have also touched a huge turf of $520,000 this year till July. Last year, its lobbying expenditure was $960,000.
Nasscom has been engaged in lobbying in the US and has spent $30,000 between January and March this year.
Nasscom VP Speaks
According to Ameet Nivsarkar, "We are engaging with coalitions and consortiums in the US like the US India Business Council, an independent think-tank. It's also important for our members and non-members to be a part of the advocacy through multiple engagements that requires having local representatives in the US or even talking to their customers to raise the issue on their behalf.”
Reason for Aggressive Lobbying
The impending immigration bill has triggered the IT companies to spend in lobbying in the US. The bill is supposed to make work visas such as H-1B more expensive. Besides, it would be all the more grim to obtain work visas for companies that have extensive US staff on such visas.
Fear of Changing Business Models:
If the bill would be passed, there are chances that the Indian IT companies may have to bring some changes to their business models. In that case, they may have to hire more local Americans. Of course, that would not be an economical decision for the Indian IT companies. They may even have to devise ways to get more of the work offshore. But, let’s see what happens as the bill has a multitude of repercussions.

Canada Immigration News: Rip-Offs and Scams, Warns CIC | Live Punjab

This is the news for all those who've packed their mind with the thought of immigrating to Canada. Expats have cautioned that the people must obviate from scams that guarantee them visas and also highly-paid jobs.
A NatWest International has reported that Canada has become a great spot and a popular destination for British expats. It seems some fraudulent schemes have been encompassing the present arena by exhibiting a palate complete with all lures and temptations.
Scammers turn to the vulnerable and exploit their desire to go to Canada. In the process, they obtain high fees for visas.
So, a Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) spokesman has informed people that only authorized officers at Canadian embassies, high commissions and consulates can issue a visa. So, people must be cautious about dealing with such scammers.
According to him, “You may have seen advertisements that promise work permits and guarantee high-paying jobs in Canada. Some offer scholarships to study at Canadian universities or colleges. Potential newcomers to Canada should be aware that many offers like these are fraudulent. In fact, using the services of people who make such promises may result in your application to Canada being rejected."
A population that is surrounded by the desire of coming to Canada has been affected by the trappings of scammers. They usually focus on the foreigners who aren’t aware of the immigration rules in Canada. The scammers usually say that the fees that they are taking for the visas will guarantee their emigration from their original place.
Officials have warned that in case of the advertised jobs that display high salaries must be checked beforehand. It’s a precaution that can prevent a person from falling into the trap of any rip-off.
CIC spokesman also said, ‘’Others may claim to offer special immigration deals or guaranteed high-paying jobs to trick people into paying them money. Some of these sites may try to get you to provide private information that could be used to steal your identity.’’
The officials have warned that they charge really high processing fees and in return guarantee visa. Processing fees is uniform all across Canada and are paid to the Receiver General of Canada.
Another highlighted point is that the scammers even ask to hire an immigration lawyer while applying for visa. Even this is hoax! So, beware, warns CIC spokesman.

Analysis: UK Six-Month Visa Bond Hits India! | Live Punjab

Analysis: UK Six-Month Visa Bond Hits India! | Live Punjab

Are you (Indian) ready to sign-in for 3,000 pounds (2.8092 Lakh) refundable bonds while applying for six-month visa to UK?
It’s time when concern must chase your head. Even FICCI seems to be perplexed with this move and heated discussions have been sending ripples on TV channels. Whatever may be the reason, political or economic, the key is how it will disturb your plan of applying for visa in UK. But till now, there is no idea about the range of implications of this scheme for Indian masses.
Encapsulating India under one group which also includes Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Ghana, has been a thorn that’s been nagging our country. However, Britain seems to be all geared up to move with the “pilot scheme”. But the memory also traces back to the visit of David Cameron’s assurance of exempting India from the controversial visa bond scheme.
This contentious visa bond scheme was supposed to target “high risk “applicants only. So, India is under the umbrella of countries which can cause great risk of abuse to residents of UK. Well grey matter needs a juggling on that thought.
A highly-acclaimed Indian lawyer from London, Sarosh Zaiwalla is providing hints where in future one can witness this scheme culminating in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). He has dubbed this move as insulting and fundamentally unlawful under ECHR law.
New face of UK’s visa for India is not something that an Indian visitor would desire. New Delhi may take up the issue with UK government and it’s absolutely justifiable.
It’s time when India questions itself in this phase of dipping economy. What is the loophole? Why is UK no longer optimistic about India? It’s not India’s maiden tryst in visa issues. Even USA has tied seat-belts to tighten visa rules for India.
Alarm bells for enhancing its stock in global sphere are ringing for the country. Let’s not sail in a wobbly boat where other captains of global arena may swing it in any direction. In the meanwhile, we, Indians, can only sit back and endeavor to unveil repercussions of the novel visa-bond scheme by Britain.
